The design is rooted in traditional Japanese joinery and built entirely by hand, with exposed joinery serving as both structure and ornament. Every surface is shaped and finished with close attention to proportion, grain direction, and the subtle transitions between each part. The result is a piece that feels restrained from a distance, yet reveals more of its construction and material beauty upon closer inspection.
Although fully functional as a step stool, this piece is intended to be appreciated as more than a household object. With time and exposure to light, the violet tones will mature toward a deeper plum and reddish-brown, giving the piece a character that continues to evolve with age.
