The design draws inspiration from Nakashima’s reverence for nature and structure, with its own distinct rhythm: dual angled supports, a solid trestle stretcher, and visible through-tenons speak of quiet strength. The grain on the cherry is beautifully figured, with delicate chatoyance shifting under natural light. Medullar ray flecking, a rare figure in cherry that can appear on quartersawn pieces, occurs boldly throughout the slab, making this piece truly one-of-a-kind.
